First Day Access Textbook Savings
Eastern Florida State College has partnered with Campus Bookstore vendor Barnes & Noble to offer the First Day Inclusive Access Program (FDIAP)—a textbook savings program that allows students in select courses to receive discounted course materials through the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). With just a few clicks of the mouse, you can gain instant access to your course materials right inside Canvas and save 20-50% or more on the national retail price. View a list of FDIAP-eligible courses for this term.
Students are automatically opted in to the First Day program. If you do not wish to participate, you may opt out during the first week of class.
How to Access Your First Day Course Materials
- Log in to the myEFSC portal, and click on the Canvas icon. (Please note that courses are not available in Canvas until the instructor opens them.)
- After clicking the Canvas icon, select your course from the Canvas Dashboard.
- Click the "Course Materials" link. You can view all of your First Day content here.
At the time of course registration, charges for digital course materials are assessed on your EFSC student account as "First Day Inclusive Access." If you qualify, the First Day materials charge can also be paid for using financial aid. Students with questions about First Day Inclusive Access charges on their accounts should contact the Cashier’s Office on any campus.
Students wishing to opt out of the FDIAP must do so during the first week of class, at which time the charge will be reversed on their student account. The FDIAP charge is also removed if a student drops a course by the term's published last day to drop and have fees adjusted deadline. The deadlines to opt out are as follows:
- Classes Starting August 17 → Opt out by August 24
- Classes Starting September 14 → Opt out by September 21
- Classes Starting October 12 → Opt out by October 26
To opt out, access the First Day link within your Canvas course, view your FDIAP opt-in/opt-out status, and click "Want to opt-out?"
You may also opt out using the FDIAP Notification of Intent to Opt Out form, which includes instructions on how to submit the form via email or at any EFSC Cashier's Office.
The First Day Inclusive Access Program has been adopted pursuant to Florida Statues Section 1004.085 Textbook and Instructional Materials Affordability.
